Rosie Edwards (she's the one you want her to be) has been a member of ETC event staff for three consecutive
seasons and was also kind enough to give us all her take on being part of the team…
Life in the Alps with ETC is brilliant! Although I am lucky enough to have a job in London town that I love, I wouldn’t be able to cope without my alpine fix! You do work hard as part of the ETC team as you don’t want to let anybody down, but no holiday can compare to the feeling you get when an event is completed successfully. Each year the events just get better and better and that adds to each year being more enjoyable than the last…
…I also enjoy it as it’s such a sociable experience, you always stay in touch with the people you worked with & they keep you sane when you have to return from the magical mountains
Alex Collins has worked alongside ETC as a University Club Captain (2006 & 7), worked
as ETC event staff at the BUSC Championships (2008) and has just finished his term in office as Chairman of an ETC partner group – the British Universities Snowsports Council. We asked him if he would be kind enough to share a few words on his ETC experience, he kindly obliged…
I’ve worked for a variety of tour operators in the mountains but working for ETC is different, you aren’t concerned with the simple, run of the mill tour operator holiday… with ETC you’re running events, live music and snow sports competitions. The logistical hurdle of running events up a mountain means you will be given a variety of responsibilities whilst working for ETC, which is great for the CV.
Out in the Alps during the event, you work hard, with fun people, you also ride hard. Since returning to the UK interviewers really value the mix of useful work experience and showing you have a hobby, a passion for winter sports.
I will once again be applying to become a part of the team & hopefully we will meet this season...
